Tour de France in Bordeaux (10 July 2026): finish, road closures & private chauffeur

· 7 min de lecture

On Friday 10 July 2026, Bordeaux hosts the finish of stage 7 of the Tour de France, between Hagetmau and Bordeaux (around 175 km). A flat stage promised to the sprinters, with a finish line at place des Quinconces in the late afternoon. A magnificent event for the city — but also a day of road closures and transport disruption across the entire left bank and the quays.

If you have a flight at Mérignac, a train at the Saint-Jean station or a business appointment that day, it is best to plan ahead. Our Bordeaux Privilège private chauffeur service knows the affected perimeter and adjusts the routes so that you can travel with peace of mind despite the closures. Here is what you need to know.

The finish of stage 7 in Bordeaux

The 7th stage of the 2026 Tour de France links Hagetmau (Landes) to Bordeaux over around 175 kilometres. An almost flat route, without a mountain pass, which crosses the forests of the Landes then the south of the Gironde following the Garonne over the final kilometres. It is a stage cut out for a mass sprint.

To reach the finish line, the peloton crosses the Simone-Veil bridge — a first for the Tour — before tackling a long straight of around 4 km on the quays of the left bank, up to place des Quinconces. The riders’ arrival is expected around 5:20 pm, preceded in the afternoon by the traditional advertising caravan.

The next day, Saturday 11 July, the Tour sets off again from Nouvelle-Aquitaine with an 8th stage between Périgueux and Bergerac: Bordeaux is therefore only concerned by the day of 10 July for the finish.

Stage 7 result (update)

It was the Belgian sprinter Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) who won the finish in Bordeaux this Friday 10 July, at the end of a mass sprint down the long straight of the left-bank quays. He beat the Norwegian Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) and the Eritrean Biniam Girmay. In the general classification, Tadej Pogačar keeps the yellow jersey.

Road and transport closures on 9 and 10 July

Organising a Tour de France finish in the city centre involves a major traffic arrangement, which begins the evening before. The elements below are based on the information published by Bordeaux Métropole and the TBM network — always check the official sources as the date approaches, as the timings may be adjusted.

  • From Thursday 9 July at 10 pm: setting up of the perimeter around place des Quinconces (quays and adjoining walkways), parking progressively banned on the left bank.
  • On Friday 10 July, from around 12 pm to 10 pm: closure of the Simone-Veil bridge, the quays of the left bank and several roads on the final route.
  • Ring road: some interchanges close to the entrance into Bordeaux are closed for part of the afternoon — plan alternative routes.
  • Tram: line B is interrupted on the Quinconces ↔ Berges de la Garonne section, and the lines serving Quinconces are disrupted in the middle of the afternoon.
  • Bus: several lines are diverted around the centre for the duration of the arrangement.

In concrete terms: the left bank, the quays and the bridges are the heart of the disruption. Journeys to the airport, the station or an appointment require planning your departure and going around the perimeter.

Where to watch the riders go by

To enjoy the finish, the final straight on the quays of the left bank and the surroundings of place des Quinconces offer the best view of the sprint. As these areas are very busy, arrive well in advance: the atmosphere builds up as soon as the advertising caravan passes in the afternoon.

If you prefer to avoid the crowd of the centre, the peloton follows the Garonne over several dozen kilometres before Bordeaux: the towns crossed upstream allow you to watch the riders go by in a calmer setting. A private chauffeur can drop you off at a viewing point then pick you up, with no parking worries.

Getting around Bordeaux despite the closures

10 July is not only a day of celebration: it is also an ordinary Friday for many — flights, trains, appointments, weekend getaways. With the quays and bridges closed for much of the afternoon, three situations require particular attention.

  • Transfer to Mérignac airport: plan your departure well in advance. A chauffeur who knows the bypass routes avoids the blocked roads and secures your flight time.
  • Saint-Jean station: located on the left bank to the south of the centre, it remains accessible, but the surroundings of the quays may be slowed. Allow a comfortable margin.
  • Business or medical appointment: a planned door-to-door journey is better than an interrupted tram or an unfindable parking space.

In all these cases, the door-to-door service of a private chauffeur — with a departure set according to the day’s constraints — remains the most reliable solution for not being subject to the disruption.

Your private chauffeur on Tour day

Our Bordeaux Privilège private chauffeur service is available 7 days a week, including this Friday 10 July. We follow the traffic arrangement set up around the finish in order to adjust the routes in real time and drop you off as close as possible to your destination.

Depending on your needs, two vehicles are available:

  • SUV — for your individual transfers or in a small group (airport, station, appointment).
  • Van up to 7 seats, on request — ideal for a family or a group coming to watch the finish together.

For a smooth pick-up that day, book in advance: demand is strong and the drop-off points must be defined according to the accessible streets.

Our practical advice for 10 July

  • Plan ahead for your sensitive journeys (flight, train) by allowing an extra margin compared with a normal Friday.
  • Avoid the private car near the quays: parking banned over a wide perimeter from the evening before.
  • Check the state of the tram and buses before leaving: several lines are interrupted or diverted in the middle of the afternoon.
  • Set your chauffeur meeting point outside the sealed-off perimeter for a pick-up without a detour.
  • Book early: the day is in high demand, between spectators and travellers.

Frequently asked questions

What time do the riders arrive in Bordeaux?

The finish of stage 7 is expected around 5:20 pm at place des Quinconces, on Friday 10 July 2026. The advertising caravan passes ahead in the afternoon. These timings remain indicative and depend on the race.

Can you still get to Mérignac airport that day?

Yes. The airport remains accessible: it is mainly the quays, the bridges and the left bank that are affected by the closures. A private chauffeur who knows the bypass routes secures your transfer — just remember to leave with a margin.

Is Saint-Jean station accessible during the Tour finish?

The station remains served, but its surroundings may be slowed by the arrangement. Plan an early departure and a pick-up point defined in advance with your chauffeur.
