Bordeaux Privilège

Private chauffeur at Biarritz Airport and the Basque Country

Biarritz-Pays Basque Airport is not actually in Biarritz. It sits at 7 Esplanade de l’Europe, in Anglet, between the three towns it serves — five minutes from Anglet, nine from central Biarritz and fourteen from Bayonne. Air France, easyJet, Ryanair, Transavia, KLM, Luxair and Swiss bring in flights from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Amsterdam, Geneva, Brussels-Charleroi and Luxembourg.

It is a small airport, so you clear it quickly. The difficulty starts immediately afterwards: a flight landing at 10 pm, four suitcases, two children, and an address in Saint-Jean-de-Luz or Hossegor. Booking a private chauffeur at Biarritz Airport removes that last piece of uncertainty — the one that usually spoils an arrival. Bordeaux Privilège covers these transfers across the whole Basque Country and the southern Landes, with live flight tracking and a meet in the arrivals hall.

Bordeaux Privilège on the Basque coast

We cover Bayonne, Anglet and Biarritz from Bordeaux, and that single fact shapes the way you book. Our vehicles are based in Bordeaux: a journey on the Basque coast is booked in advance, not picked up within the hour. What you get in return is a driver who knows the run, a price fixed before departure and your flight followed.

Why a journey here is booked ahead

A transfer run out of Bordeaux means almost two hours of empty approach before the first passenger even gets in. That is what sets the lead time: a journey on the Basque coast is booked several days ahead. A last-minute pick-up in Bayonne, Anglet or Biarritz is not something we promise. A delayed flight, on the other hand, changes nothing: we follow your flight number and the pick-up time adjusts.

Booking works the same in both directions

You book the same way whichever way you are travelling: Bordeaux to Biarritz on Friday, Biarritz to Bordeaux on Sunday, or a straightforward airport-to-hotel run late in the evening. The same person handles your booking from start to finish.

Your transfers from Biarritz Airport

Biarritz-Pays Basque Airport concentrates its arrivals in the evening and its departures early in the morning. Those are exactly the hours when local transport thins out — and the hours we cover with no night surcharge on pre-booked journeys.

On arrival: flight tracking and a meet in the hall

We record your flight number when you book and follow its actual schedule. A delay costs you nothing extra: the driver simply shifts the pick-up. You are met in the arrivals hall, past baggage reclaim, with a name board if you would like one.

  • Flight tracking: the pick-up time follows the real landing, not the timetable.
  • Meet in the arrivals hall: never inside baggage reclaim, which is not open to the public.
  • Luggage handled by the driver, from trolley to boot.
  • Waiting time included for up to one hour after landing.
  • No night surcharge on any pre-booked transfer.

On departure: a pick-up time built around your flight

For an early departure, your pick-up time is not a rough guess. It is worked back from your boarding time, the real driving time and a safety margin. You leave at the time you approved, from the exact address where you are staying.

Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz: the three towns we serve

The three towns run into one another, but you do not move through them the same way. One thing is constant, though: parking is the real problem, especially between June and September.

Biarritz

In summer the town tightens around the Grande Plage, the fishermen’s port and the Rocher de la Vierge. The streets running down to them are narrow and frequently gridlocked. Being dropped at the exact address, on time, without hunting for a space, changes the whole arrival — particularly with luggage.

Anglet

The Anglet tourist office lists eleven beaches spread along several kilometres of coast. The town is stretched out: walking from one end to the other is no small thing once you are carrying bags. It is also where the airport stands, which makes it the quickest place of all to reach.

Bayonne

Bayonne packs its streets between the Nive and the Adour, in Grand Bayonne and Petit Bayonne. The Bayonne tourist office runs events there every summer that make the historic centre awkward to reach by car. A door-to-door drop-off settles it.

From Hossegor to Hendaye, the whole coastline

Beyond the three towns we serve the coast in both directions. The distances are short; what is missing are the connections, once you have counted the luggage and the children.

Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye

Saint-Jean-de-Luz and its sheltered bay are 18 minutes from the airport. Hendaye, its two-kilometre beach and the Spanish border are 26 minutes away. Both are short runs, and both are regularly requested late in the evening when local services thin out.

Hossegor, Seignosse and Capbreton

On the Landes side, Hossegor is 33 minutes from Biarritz Airport, with Seignosse and Capbreton within the same radius. This is surf-trip and weekly-rental country, where nobody arrives travelling light.

Bordeaux to the Basque Country, direct

Bordeaux and Biarritz are 194 kilometres apart, roughly 2 hr 15 by motorway. We run this route in both directions, and it is one of the most requested journeys in our long-distance work. Distances towards Bayonne, Hendaye and San Sebastián are gathered in our article on one-way transfers and at-disposal bookings.

From Saint-Jean station or Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport

We collect from Bordeaux Saint-Jean station, from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport or from your own address. It is the classic route for a missed connection, a same-day business trip, or a one-way move with more luggage than a train comfortably takes. If what you have in mind is a day out instead, our Basque Country day trip from Bordeaux sets out the possible itineraries.

Travelling as a family

Our 8-seater van is booked in advance and takes a family with its cases without leaving a bag behind. We carry two child booster seats, to be requested when you book.

  • 8-seater van on request, for groups and families travelling heavy.
  • Two booster seats available — tell us when booking.
  • Oversized luggage: declare it, and the vehicle is chosen accordingly.
  • Other destinations around Bordeaux: see our Arcachon Bay chauffeur page.

Worth knowing: in a chauffeur-driven vehicle a child restraint remains compulsory in France — the usual benchmark is under 10 years old or under 135 cm. A booster is therefore not a comfort extra, and we would rather say so than let you assume it.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the driver wait at Biarritz Airport?

In the arrivals hall, past baggage reclaim, with a name board if you ask for one. We never arrange to meet inside baggage reclaim, as it is not open to the public.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We track your flight number and the driver moves the pick-up time. No surcharge is applied for an aircraft delay.

How long does Bordeaux to Biarritz take?

About 2 hr 15 for 194 kilometres by motorway, outside exceptional traffic. We can start from Saint-Jean station, Mérignac Airport or your address.

Can I book with child seats?

Yes. We carry two booster seats. Give us the children’s ages when booking so the vehicle is prepared.

How is the price set?

It is quoted before you book, for your exact journey. Once agreed it does not change: no meter, no traffic surcharge, and no charge for airport waiting within the first hour.
